My daughters arrived here in Singapore last April with hopes of a better education, a better life and a better opportunity to continue their dreams of becoming ballerinas someday. Ballet and dance has been a big part of their everyday life in the Philippines and I don’t plan to halt their passion here in Singapore, so the quest to find a ballet school here in Singapore began.

We first took Ashley, my eldest daughter to a renowned dancing school hoping to enroll her there, but we felt we didn’t fit to the system, and it was too generic that they failed to see what Ashley can really do as a ballet dancer. They just see how old she was and put her in a class where her skills were somehow ahead of the rest of the group. So we had to look for a school where she can somehow be herself. I was going thru the pages of the ARTS Beat magazine in my workplace, then saw an ad which offers ballet for children and an opportunity to become a part of the children’s company. I made the call and the rest was history.

I met Gwyneth, and brought Ashley to her. I was so happy that she gave Ashley a chance to show what she can really do. That in itself made me feel that they really assess their students well and give the appropriate assessment. Ashley started to join their classes and she felt very comfortable. Gwyneth and her sister Melissa are very passionate about their profession and it radiates to the children. That is what my daughter loves, the passion towards dance and it really inspires her to continue dancing and becoming good at it. Now, my second daughter, Keeshia is joining the class and she’s so happy to be dancing with them and learning so much. Indeed, we found a home with the Dance Theater Arts and we found a family with Gwyneth and Melissa. They are truly a blessing to my daughters. Now my daughters are living their dreams.

Our programs are modeled after good dance schools in Australia and USA. It combines a recreational environment with elite teaching and training methods that enables students to attain a high standard of performance. It encourages students to be highly self motivated to achieve their full potential not only in dance but also in approaching daily activities.

In addition to the many dance styles offered by Dance Theatre Arts, our Young Performer’s Program is unique in Singapore combining dance and vocal skills. This program highlights the strength of our recreational training programs.

Dance Theatre Arts is a comprehensive performing arts company specializing in Dance and Movement. We believe that participation in Dance can greatly benefit all people, in terms of physical and mental well being. It also offers youth a healthy focus in their choice of recreational activities, and instills in them a sense of discipline and self-motivation.

Our Artistic Directors have trained professionally in prestigious College and Vocational dance institutions abroad. They have extensive overseas performance and teaching experience in various dance styles. They are also skilled in acrobatics and Musical Theatre.

Fun & Engaging Classes

Dance Theatre Arts taught ballet to my daughter as part of an external club through Chatsworth School. My daughter and the rest of the class (approximately 15 girls) looked forward to ballet each week with much enthusiasm.

Dance Theatre Arts made each lesson fun by engaging the girls in a different story each week and provided many prompts ie, wands, hoops etc for the girls to use during each lesson. They also gave the girls stickers at the end of each class, which the girls really looked forward to.

I have no hesitation in recommending Dance Theatre Arts for any future endeavours, and wish them all the very best for a wonderful career ahead.

Dance Programs

The emphasis of our recreational programs is on performance and artistry while maintaining a correct and safe approach to technique, insuring that young bodies are physically ready to perform moves of increasing difficulty. All our classes are based on the Russian Ballet training system that ensures a standard of technique necessary for the Royal Academy of Dance and Australasian Theater of Dance examinations.

Accomplishing a strong ballet foundation is crucial to becoming an outstanding dancer in any dance or movement style. The guiding principles of the Russian Vaganova Method enables a dancer to develop the flexibility, strength, endurance, muscle memory, discipline, and attention to detail that are essential to his or her growth as a dancer. Thus, our ballet training provides a good foundation for students to take on all styles of dance under the varied Dance Styles Program that we offer.

Gwyneth Har

Gwyneth Har is graduate in dance from the Victorian College of the Arts in Australia. She is a Royal Academy of Dance registered teacher (RAD RTS), and has teaching certification under the Australasian Arts Theatre of Dance (ATD). She studied the Russian Vaganova method under the late Madam Janina Cunova, one of the greatest teacher’s listed in the book “20th Century great Ballet Masters”. Gwyneth is experienced to perform and teach in various dance styles, and musical theatre.

Specialized After School Coaching Program

This program is for students aged 7-16+ years.

Students in this program attend regular school, whilst pursuing their dance and performing arts training part- time with Dance Theatre Arts. They receive 12-16 hours of dance training a week at a highly subsidized cost. Students are trained in classical ballet, body conditioning and stretch, contemporary dance, jazz, character dance and various other movement practices.

Our Program provides a foundation for students wishing to gain entry into Tertiary Dance Institutions locally and overseas.

Our Junior Company members are encouraged to enrol in this program.
